Me of little faith: Week Project.
...I'm a Carolina girl. I love this great state and this amazing small town. I'm not suggesting any "outta towners" pack on up and move on down anytime soon. This is not an add for relocation in my lovely one stop light town.We kinda like it "small" and full of Southern charm! Fact is, I met my very first "Yankee" friend 10 years ago. That's right. Carolina girl lived a sheltered life I do suppose. My Yankee NY friend is now more like a Southern girl truth be known now! I and all the other southern girls have corrupted her sweet self. We became the best of friends and I'm the God Mother to HANDS DOWN the sweetest more gorgeous God Daughter to ever walk this earth! :) I love her more than cupcakes. Back on track to living in Carolina Country, land of milk and honey!! ;) Living here we have four fantastic seasons. Our Summers are steamy, just like I love them, and our Fall time is glorious. We do have that little season of Old Man Winter. My seven year old told me in early December that we were going to have a CAROLINA SNOW CHRISTMAS! I giggled, kindly then beat down his dream by making it clear that it was a long shot, I'd lived here forever and we had never had a "White Christmas"...and then I said all matter of fact like .."Not a Chance!!!" A week before Christmas he calmly told me again that we were going to have a White Christmas and he knew we would because he had faith. I didn't so much bash him this time as I calmly said "Don't get your hopes up Kid!'..That's not bashing? That's great parenting! :) lol! Skip to two days before Christmas and the weather, much to my shocking surprise annoucnes..."Perhaps SNOW on Christmas day!"... Bahhhhumbug says the Carolina Sun lovin' Summer girl!! That morning during our Winkler family football game came the first flakes of snow. I was shocked. Shocked! I knew it would stop!! Three hours later and a white ground covered yard later that little boy of mine tromped through the house I grew up as a little girl and I went to tell him I was so sorry and he was...gulp...so right. He said with the toothless grin he's sportin'.. "I prayed he'd send the snow and I think he said "Well sure Coop, I will send the snow to make your mom look foolish for not having just enough faith!!".... I cracked up.. then cried. ha!( * I'm at times a touch wishy washy on my emotions! Shush it!)
SO...it hasn't been a White Christmas since 1947 in my town. I would like to say that if you enjoyed it, it was brought to you on behalf of my boy and his faith in the man above...;) xo~M

"You don't have Enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had Faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move.
Nothing would be Impossible."

Week Something:
...remember me. I have been savoring seconds of life as they rush by me. ..(Or, well that's my story!) ha.
SO, back in August, I vowed to capture an image a week...and in the end I'd have 52 images from my birthday to the next birthday. Let's face it...WHO knew turning 21 would be so busy and life so crazy that I wouldn't be able to keep up with it like I had hoped. (Or, well that's my story!) :) lol! . I've not failed at capturing those images. I've accomplished that part. It's the keeping up with the documentation part that sorta threw me for a loop!! Live and learn. Stay calm. Snap On. ;)
I'm going to showcase some images though to catch back up from a few months back. :) Here is a start to that... More to come. More gorgeous families to feature. More 2011 updates! :)
...I've always wanted a Peacock. More than I like any domestic animal even. Is this odd? :) Don't answer that.

Happy Thanksgiving. ;)
...there's a million stories my parents tell over and over. Back in 1979 a little blue eyed, jet black haired, olive skinned little girl made her way into this sweet world. She did so screamin', she did so with arms flairin'. She did so as well, one week late and nearly gave her own sweet daddy a heart attack as he almost missed the birth of his first born. When they put her on her mother's chest she grabbed tight to a simple gold necklace with a tiny little pearl on it and didn't let go... The rest...is history. That girl, well..she's still a week late and making a dramatic entrance, still the obvious worry and reason her daddy's heart keeps a tickin' and still..still loves things that glitter and shine. Some girls, some girls never change, they are infact ...born that way.
...Tonight, I bring you my Thanksgiving post. One week late. :) Drum roll...key the lights...your attention please...
giggle.
My point being...(get on with it, Moriah, huh! ha!). I'm late. There. I admitted it.Surprise Surprise. Though, I am still so very grateful. You see, I am much like many of you. My blessings overflow. My cup runneth over. My heart swells with so much love. Life, life is simply a gift and I am so very THANKFUL for that simple gift alone. I am so thankful for the chance to be a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a mother, a friend...
I have been given so much more than I ever did deserve in life already. I am so rich in blessings it almost makes me want to cry. So..I just suck it inside of me instead as being a cry girl has never been my thing nor having mascara run down my eyes much ever looked that great on me either...:) My riches, oh my oh my riches come in the form of family and friends. My entire pot of gold they dwell in! I truly and simply am thankful.
I am also oooooooh so sooooo thankful for being able to do what I love. I love being a photographer. Love love love it...:)
Thank you so much for allowing me to do what I love doing...
I'm thankful for so much more as well.
Things like...my favorite God...my only God...but you know and stuff. I love the big guy. Whom I do refer to as "the big guy"...:) Just sayin'...
Things like the chance to live in America, to send my children to a great school with wonderful teachers, to have a roof over my head and shoes on my feet, for an entire summer off watching my little boys play under the sunshine, for sunshine, for sundrop, speakin' of sun...ha...for being a Carolina girl and livin' in the greatest little town ever and for Sundrop all you can drink, for mexican food and sushi and cupcakes...ha., for a straight iron...that same baby was born with some curls, for phones that text so I never have to answer calls, for computers and ..well...I"m getting a little windy now huh! :) I'm thankful. Wrap it up. Cut the lights. Mute the music. She's done;. :)
I am simply, blessed.
Hope each of you had THE BEST THANKSGIVING Ever!
~M

Featuring the Hoffman Family!
Everybody knows that "picture day" is hectic...
How do I know this? I have two boys who have had a camera in their face since birth...
How many shots this fall have I ventured out for "picture day" with them...
none.
I know. I know. It's the story of the shoe maker and his children are shoeless...
You get the point..ha..
Regardless...I know that when my families take the time to put the right attire together, to schedule a day in their busy lives, and to do this with little kids, it's a task.
I always keep this in mind that before they even made it to me, they had taken on a few task to do so.
...Throw in with this family...
an hour plus drive..
around nap time..
with..
wait for it...
three kids, three and under
including..
yes, a set of twins.
I knew that I, as a photographer, HAD to nail it.
Imagine all of us stepping out of our cars and ...
welp.
rain.
I am not kidding.
In a matter of minutes the sun came out! Praise the Lord!!
The children...amazing...
the parents...hysterical...and patient..and easy to work with...
The weather...perfect..
The portraits...priceless.
Meet the Hoffman Family!
;)
Thank you for coming out and allowing me the chance to photograph your family!

Thank you, Heather and Kuhl family for allowing me to document this stage in your life...

Abe- 3 years old
...I know this sounds like the start of a broken record as it would seem all my blog post begin this way...however, it's the greatest part of my job. Honestly....With that being said..Key Music: I've had the pleasure of capturing Abe since he was born. As a photographer, this is the greatest honor. To be asked back year after year to come capture these fleeting moments....
I stand humbled every single time...
Simply blessed.
This year...Abe was my buddy. He grabbed my hand from the very start, talked about life, love and happiness....or...Spiderman, Mcdonald's and his mama. Like I said, Life, Love and Happiness.:) He kissed me bye and said boldly.."Bye Ms.Moooewiahhh I love you."...and I took a deep breath and shouted back..." I love you too Abe!"....
You see...
I'm just a girl, who shows up with a camera and this...this is the real story. The camera is just my tool. My story is written in the unspoken memories and moments like this...in the documentation of life at best.
Life.
I love mine.
I love this job.
I stand humbled every single time...
Simply blessed.

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. ~Jane Howard
...my parents backyard.
3 picnic tables.
always a stock pot, a pot of rice (my mother is hawaiian, we ate it 3 times a day growing up), wine, flowers, lemonade, tea and paper plates. ha. oh..and usually somebody has a birthday..so..cake.
or..we just eat birthday cake because regardless. ;)
my favorite place to go to eat...their house.
....i still get a little out of body when somebody is sitting in my seat at the dinner table...
....it is the reason i am loud. really loud. and the reason why all my siblings are loud.
.....and funny.
...i think you become loud and funny at dinner. this was before wine was allowed. ha.
...because with too many kids at a table ya gotta figure out how anybody can hear you...
i live for sunday dinners, and cake parties..and low country shrimp boils, and fresh salad from my dad's garden. and grilled chicken. and chicken salad and green bean cassarole. i love food. it's obvious. but more than that, it's not about the food...it's about my family all together...
..okay..and the cake.
:)
just sayin'.
xo
PS- And yes, I'm once again a few weeks behind in the project posting. I've captured the images, I just need to post them~:)
